How about a custom-built hallway/mudroom storage area were all the kids shoes and coats are neatly hidden away?We use the same process for painting kitchen cabinets as custom cabinetry in hallways, bathrooms and laundry rooms. The process we use to finish the newly created storage areas is as follows:
- Protect all surfaces around furniture
- Remove all doors and drawer-pieces
- Hand sand all surfaces of the furniture
- apply two coats of primer to shells with brush and roller
- Set up spray booth in secure area, ideally your garage.
- Spray primer doors and drawer-pieces in secure area, ideally in your garage
- apply two coat of top coat to all furniture pieces.
A couple of tips for long-lasting beauty:
- Do not use the piece of furniture until the paint has time to cure
- wash with a damp cloth if needed with water and dish detergent
- a clear coat of latex polyurethane can be applied in multiple coats to protect the surface from scratches and some markings
